“Sleeping Beauty” by Edward Frederick Brewtnall
The fairy tales I’m retelling are the usual ones: Cinderella, Snow White, Briar Rose and Beauty and the Beast. I’m thinking about a subtitle. Rossini’s opera La Cenerentola (Cinderella) has a subtitle that’s corny but inspiring: ossia la bontà in trionfo. This translates, “or, goodness triumphant.” I admire and want to imitate this way of presenting the tales. Similar concepts could be: “virtue rewarded” or “innocence proven”. Inspiring – yes and sweet! Stay tuned…!
